You've seen his work on Deadmau5, Brazzabelle, and at several dance music events around the globe, but you might not know the name behind the art. He keeps a humble profile, but Perry from DESIGNSBYP3RRY is making big moves in the mostly untouched market he dubs EDM FX.
Going beyond the typical LED shirts and toys, Perry creates one-of-a-kind art and special effects designs from light up club attire, props for movies, custom outfits and masks for DJs - but the possibilities are truly endless.
He was the original designer of the LED shoes for YRU, now wildly popular on the dance floor. When he created a full-scale LED outfit for DJ Brazzabelle, she dubbed it the Brazzatron, among many other artists who have fallen in love with DESIGNSBYP3RRY. Another one of the most rewarding experiences for Perry was designing a custom mouse head for Deadmau5, who celebrated with Perry on stage when the mask was complete. These are just a few accomplishments we touched on in the interview, which you can watch above.
In the full video interview, Perry discusses his inspirations in the dance music scene, his relentless work ethic, his extremely artistic background, and the artists he would love to work with in the future. However, I loved when we touched on a real motive behind his art - to create designs for children as part of the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Whether it's creating real-life Star Wars characters or superhero designs, Perry finds a greater purpose for his art, whether his designs make a dozen children smile, or entertain a festival of thousands. With a unique talent like his, I have no doubt DESIGNSBYP3RRY has an incredibly bright future ahead.
