LOS COYOTES INDIAN RESERVATION, CA - Veterans in the making, the Desert Hearts crew released their fresh new lineup last week for 2017's Spring Festival. Though our DH favorites grace the stage once again, Mikey Lion, Marbs, Lee Reynolds, and Porkchop, we are extremely thrilled to see plenty of names on the bill that will pop the party for the first time, March 31st through April 3rd.

With house and techno leaders like Marques Wyatt, Doc Martin, Justin Martin, Dave Seaman, Edu Imbernon, it's no doubt that the festival is heading in a bolder direction with every edition. Special selectors DJ Garth, Jozif, Sacha Robotti, Dave Scuba and Christian Martin pack a solid punch of support to the well-rounded lineup. Among several more adventurous acts, performing live will be KMLN and Monolink.

While other festivals tend to regurgitate buddy-buddy artists, we appreciate the taste of a lineup that features artists that hail from different parts of the globe. It's apparent that Desert Hearts organizers care about the rejuvenated experience of us festival-goers rather than stamping the same game plan every show and hoping we won't notice. Yet they find the delicate, important balance between "selling out" to a mass audience and still upping the ante for the intimate gathering.

To preface 2017's annual Spring event, we acknowledge they kept the same gorgeous location at Los Coyotes Reservation. I think all of us who have attended Desert Hearts before know there's something magical about the way the light shines through the cracks of the beaming trees at this venue, a bit warmer sun than the ol' Winter Fest.

In addition to keeping the same precious gem of a space, the musical mavericks will continue to bust out beats for 72 hours of non-stop house, techno, disco, and more. Desert Hearts tends to be an occasion where artists feel free to stretch towards more experimental ends of the spectrum, performing in front of the least judgmental crowd. The open-minded approach and the one-stage law of the land seems to scream, "we support you no matter what you want to play, and we'll still dance." Of course, the bar is set high, as we look at the global legends that will surely deliver, but the point is that no matter what - we will all keep dancing. After all, we are all desert hearts.
