☛ ¡¡ BAJATON !! ☚ is a night that's all about keepin' it tropical even after the sun goes down. Frosty craft drinks, spicy beats, and a vacation-state of mind that keeps the vibe cool while letting ya unleash yo inner bad gal side.

February was a RIDICULOUSLY crayzie month for us, 4 events deep all-around the Southwest, over the radio, and beyond! But we are delighted (and slightly relieved) to be back at our BAJA home and even more excited to bring you BAJATON's most *ECLECTIC* & multi-genre sonic showcase yet!!!!!!

Ever since we first dreamed a little dream about starting BAJATON we've been eager to partner up with the OG tropical bass-lovin/cumbia/dancehall crew ¡GEMATRIA! - the Tropical Bass soundsystem run by San Diego's Prince Zohar (HABITAT SOUND) & Eddie Turbo (DUB TRAFFICK CONTROL/DUB DYNAMITE)!!!!!!

For almost TEN YEARS now (!!!!), this tropical-minded juggernaut has been successfully blasting the best in dancehall, cumbia, and international bass from all corners of the globe--along with vocals, analog effects, and live drumming-- right here in San Diego; the sunshiny center of it all. ZOHAR & TURBO have a reputation for turning a flooded dancefloor into a delicious yet dangerously potent cocktail, of salty sweat and sweet pineapple juice, topped with a cute umbrella and a soft kiss goodbye to all your midweek inhibitions. We are incredibly delighted to be the willing victims of GEMATRIA's *TROPICAL TAKEOVER* and welcome their delivery of an entirely original and utmost promising global dub insurgence, in the form of grooveworthy cumbias, world riddims and old & new school "rub-a-dub-dubs."

We are also pleased to welcome back DON VALDEZ, who has just recently celebrated the successful release of his first moombahton EP off top-tier bass label, ROT10 MUSIK, as well as his poignant launch of Albuquerque's first Moombahton-centric event! His fresh-minded and heavy dub-laden approach to the moombahton sound integrates a profound past of his experience in the bass music form and intertwines his own brand of sound self-coined as "Tijuana Bass." Fiercely steering in the opposite direction away from the forcible electro-driven moombahcore "bangers" currently flooding the Moombahsphere, Don Valdez's productions are thoughtfully crafted with an uncompromisable respect for the genre's often overlooked Latin roots, profound Southwest bravado, and deliberate sexual depravity: resulting in an inspiring and unparalleled sound, that evokes insatiable floor-wide promiscuity and questionable activity typically reserved for behind closed doors.

(GEEKEDDANCE // The P Man Show)

We are delighted to host San Diego's ever-praised vinyl connoisseur, P MAN, has been hosted on a number of platforms; from the UK's esteemed REACT.FM alongside names like Heny G, DJ Magic, Reso, Conquest, & Cluekid; to, and eventually moving to his own website, His radio show is a guaranteed source for the freshest (and classic!) bass music. Aside from making Tuesdays at work more tolerable for stateside listeners, P Man's show runs an intelligent mix of fun genres. From dub to grime, tropical bass to garage, P Man has all bases covered, and he always has a few dubs to spare. He will be playing a very special ALL VINYL tropical bass/UK funky set for us, integrating incredibly rare global bass gems, and of course unpredictable drops we've come to expect from P MAN's massive crate collection of surprises.

BAJATON Co-founder COLOUR VISION is an emblem of San Diego’s nightlife scene and San Diego’s next pioneer in Moombahton production. And given the rampant activity on his Soundcloud over the last 2 months, it’s clear he has taken his new role VERY seriously. COLOUR VISION’s approach to Moombahton is a unique blend of shimmery 108 tempos, glistening synths, and cool-minded percussion: taking beloved indie dance gems and reflipping them with an effervescent groovy twist. His swoonworthy tracks present a reminiscence of his true love for disco and are less influenced by the harsher Dutch House stabs, typical to the genre.

Quick Moombahton Lesson:

⚐ ⚐ ⚐ ⚐ ⚐ ⚐ ⚐ ⚐ ⚐ ⚐ ⚐

☑ Moombahton was created by Dave Nada (of Nadastrom) whilst entertaining a ditch day house party full of anxious latinas eager to dance to something with saucy rhythm. So Nada cleverly toned down his crate of dutch house by slowing down his Chuckie Afrojack remix record "Moombah" to 108 bpm. BUM BUM BAHHHH!!! And the tropical and inherently dancefloor-ready genre was born.

Following Nada's lead, more top-notch proponents in the moombah campaign emerged and the likes of globally-praised moombahtonistas MUNCHI, DILLON FRANCIS, HEART BREAK, were discovered with frantic legions of eager support tailing close behind them. What makes moombahton special is its ever-evolving and accessible nature, and the exploration of the unknown depths of this genre's potential have only just begun.

Moombahcore leads the way directly to the dance floor with firey four-to-floor dutch house blares and searing basslines, while Moombahsoul leans to the more sunny daytime groovy-worthy tip. And the combinations of Kuduro, Cumbia, Soca, Dancehall, Latin, funk, electro, dub, Tropical bass, in between the capricious layers within realm of Moombahton are endless.
