Dutch Sinterklaas Party 2013
Cafe Prague (financial district)
424 Merchant St, San Francisco, CA 94111
18:00 Hours - 21:00 Friday December 6 2013
Sinterklaas is the most beloved of all Dutch holidays and traditions!
And one, Dutch people are fiercely proud of. Don’t you dare go messing about with this very gezellig affair!
Check out on December 6 why the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, as
well as some parts of Germany, French Flanders, Lorraine and Artois.
Sinterklaas is also well known in territories of the former Dutch
Empire (still is an empire to me :) , including Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao,
Indonesia, and Suriname.
He is one of the sources of the holiday figure of Santa Claus in North America.
Although he is usually referred to as Sinterklaas, he is also known as
De Goedheiligman (The Good Holy Man), Sint Nicolaas [sɪnt 'nikolaːs] or
simply as De Sint
(The Saint), whatever you call him, he brings fun
to the table and all Europeans are invited to partake in this
adventurous, historical, and amusing holiday.
There will be no
cover but bringing Dutch Pepernoten, Speculaas, Marzepein, or a treat
form your neck of the woods is encouraged and you will be noticed as the
good person as you are and the Halo of giving around your head will be
the beacon for other people to adore your good spirit and kind manners.
Sinterklaas music will be played but as always when people want to
dance the tables will be turned and the House music will rule the sky as
the Sint himself on a white
schimmel (horse) soaring above the roofs for the good people on his list deserving of a present filled with a good time.
Hope to see you at the Thanksgving Party on November 27 or the Sinterklaas party on December 6 or even better both :)
