Melyss (Melissa Sautter), a native San Franciscan at heart, was a transplant from New Jersey in 1997. Melyss is a resident (2002) of the original all-female collective in San Francisco SISTER SF, one of the three founders of the Witches' Brew collective, and a resident with Opel Productions.

In the summer of 2000, she began Djing with the Witches' Brew crew, which is best known for its monthly residency during the summer months at Jupiter in Berkeley. "I will never forget spinning records at Jupiter for the first time, I was so nervous, I had every record picked out, in order of which I was going to play it. That night changed my life. The music was pumping and people were dancing. I daydreamed about it for 2 weeks afterwards."

In January of 2001, Melyss began her residency at the Tuesday night house/breaks party Mayonnaise at Skylark in San Francisco, which has developed into a staple San Francisco event. It was here that she learned the ropes in everything from promoting to troubleshooting sound issues, and having the opportunity to play in front of people on a weekly basis.

Previous musical training includes piano, voice, and most recently guitar. "I have always been a music fanatic-from spectator to participant-music has always been a magical element of my life."

Melyss has also had the opportunity to play at 1015 Folsom, Mezzanine, DNA Lounge, Kelly's Mission Rock, The EndUp, Danzhaus, Wish Bar, 111 Minna, Luna Lounge, W Hotel, Studio Z, Fuse, Butter, Backflip, Galileo and Red Circle Lounge in San Diego, and many more. Melyss's major musical inspirations include local DJ heroine Charlotte the Baroness, Chris n Chris (Joint Sessions), Chemical Brothers, Prince, Groove Armada, Phish, Fluke, and those that comprise Fingerlickin' Records. Future plans include the production of her own tracks and continuing to bust out the funky beats.

Sister SF was one of the first inspirations for Melyss to become a DJ. Watching this badass collective of women take the city by storm was one of her greatest inspirations. Originally she was an intern in January 2002 and became a resident in the summer of 2002.

Thanks to my friends, family, and fellow DJs, for all your love, support, and inspiration...
