Along the way, Homero forged a working relationship with fellow Bay Area DJ and producer Allen Craig, which resulted in Yerba Buena Discos, a DJ and music-production cooperative. Their first track, "Soul Power 03," featured on Tony Hewitt's Detour Recordings label, scored myriad playlistings and extensive European radio play. His releases on their Yerba Buena Discos label have become top sellers at Bay Area record stores and have become crowd favorites in San Francisco's deep house underground.
In a symbolic move meant to display a change from his younger, more party-oriented persona to a more mature, artistic perspective, the "DJ Huey" moniker has been shed in favor of "Homero Espinosa," his given name.
Homero's work at Berkeley's Primal Records surrounded him with great talent and inspiration. This, as well as another record due for immediate release on Nightshift Recordings and Homero's appearances on Bay Area radio, have further raised his stock beyond the scope of the massive raves at which he is still a regularly featured performer.
After a year spent promoting for a casino which proved to be somewhat frustrating due to the corporate nature of his clients, 2004 brought about a newly revitalized Homero, who has thrown his hat into the ring of San Francisco club promoters. As the man behind the monthly Family Affair nights and YBD underground events, he continues to keep clubbers dancing to the underground house music that is his first love.
