ekb*
A former front
woman of indie rock bands during college, ekb* made the switch to the
decks when she first experienced the music and atmosphere of the DJ
culture in the Pacific Northwest. After moving to Phoenix in 1998, she
bought turntables and started collecting and spinning vinyl. An
audiophile from the start, she was drawn to the infinite variety of
textures and possibilities provided by the world of dance music.
As
a founding member of various breakbeat collectives and collaborations
like B3, Cake & Booty, and HDIC, ekb* tore up dance floors across
the Valley of the Sun and beyond with her funky breaks and basslines.
Celebrating fun party music during a time when dark drum and bass and
club trance ruled supreme, she has been invited to bring her upbeat
style to clubs all over the US including Seattle, Chicago, Denver, Los
Angeles, San Diego, Milwaukee, and Sedona.
ekb* continues to
keep her focus on the dance floor. While primarily a breaks DJ, ekb*
also has a long standing passion for house music. Showcasing her musical
knowledge and skill, you will hear her incorporate elements of funk,
disco, and speed garage in her high energy sets. When the party needs a
mellow and sophisticated vibe, she also celebrates the sounds of jazz,
reggae and soul. Whatever the mood or flavor, ekb* has something in her
crates to satisfy your soul.
