Since the age of 10, Dave Gillis has been pursuing his passion as a DJ, always playing with radio stations or playing records for friends and family who came over to visit. When Dave wasn’t playing out parties while attending boarding school out in the east coast, he was sneaking off campus to New York City to see legendary DJs play at underground nightclubs, or loft parties on Manhattan’s lower east side, or going on local pirate radio stations. This is when Dave got a taste of what he considers his ‘true calling’ – playing music and entertaining the masses. Honing his skills at various clubs in St. Louis and Los Angeles, he moved to San Jose in 1996 after graduating from Principia College, and immediately took up residency at San Jose's top dance club, The Agenda Lounge.

In 1997, Dave got his big break when the resident DJ at Harry Denton’s Starlight Room in San Francisco needed a sub for the night. Since answering 'the call' Dave has been performing there ever since, and since his arrival, the Starlight Room has consistently been rated as the number one nightclub in San Francisco. Starting in 2003, Dave has served as the full-time resident DJ, featured every Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Vogue Thursdays, featuring all the great hits from the 1980's. Truly a San Francisco favorite!

After leading a successful career in graphic design and project management for several Fortune 500 companies (including Sony, KPMG and Mitsubishi), Dave re-directed his talents to his own true calling – entertainment. Dave currently produces a weekly web radio show titled “WestGroove”, featuring the latest in downtempo future jazz and rare soulful R&B/Hip Hop tracks, as well as maintaining all business, design and marketing aspects for his production company. All this combined is what really puts him a cut above the rest. It is no surprise to anyone that Dave Gillis has established himself as one of San Francisco's favorite DJ and is definitely one of the fastest rising artists to come out of the San Francisco music scene.
