Darude is the musical pseudonym used by the Finnish trance musician Ville Virtanen. Virtanen was born in Eura, Finland on July 17, 1975.

Virtanen began making music in high school using basic music software on his PC. He developed the name Darude from a nickname that he picked up from a party where he repeatedly played a track called 'Rude Boy' by the Swedish musician Leila K.

While attending technical school he contiuned to produce music and perfected his production techniques. Virtanen produced several demo's for radio stations and in 1999 gave a demo of 'Sandstorm' to producer Jaakko Salavaara. Salavaara signed Virtanen to his 16 Inch Record label and they released 'Sandstorm' as a single in Finland.

'Sandstorm' was an instant success and charted at number 1 in the Finnish dance chart, turning platinum on the way to the top. The single then went on international release and charted at number 3 in the UK. The album that followed the single, Before the Sandstorm, topped the Finnish album charts.

In 2001, Virtanen toured with the Before the Sandstorm album and in 2002 released his second album named, Rush. Virtanen's latest album, Label This!, has just been released in October 2007.

“Out of Control” is a song by Finnish DJ and musician Darude. It was released as a single in 2000 and subsequently appeared on his 2001 album Before the Storm. Despite coming closely on the heels of the hit “Sandstorm” “Out of Control” has never achieved the same kind of critical success.

Darude also mixed another version of the song that appeared a bit later called “Out of Control (Back for More)”, which appeared in 2001.

“Out of Control” was also the subject of a music video, and, like you might expect, it’s a bit strange. There’s lots of underwater mixing and general strangeness.
