KOPCHO aka Matt Kopcho is spreading a distinctive sound drawn from the love he has for electronic dance music and the energetic connection with his crowd of fans. KOPCHO’s first spark of interest in becoming a DJ stems from the underground club days of the late 90’s in his hometown of Seattle. His move to San Diego in 2004 was a definitive gravitation to the right locale and people. Upon meeting his friend Cowboy Mike, the budding talents unknowingly threw the San Diego after party scene for a loop. On the weekends, Kopcho and Cowboy Mike’s house parties would host the likes of Donald Glaude, Steve Porter, DJ Frances, and Victor Dinaire who would play music into the early hours of the morning. The passion continued to build as KOPCHO honed his skills and decidedly chose house music as the genre he most identified with. When the house parties reached their plateau, something was needed to accommodate the crowd. The solution was the Bacchus House on Saturday mornings where Kopcho acquired a resident DJ spot in the spring of 2006 thanks to his good friends Cowboy Mike and Victor Dinaire. His sound was unique for a trance-heavy venue, and the crowd jumped at the chance to listen to some funky electro house. The energy was quickly observed by others in the scene and he began receiving offers to play at events such as the Spundae/Aqua Pool Parties. Over the last year he has performed at THIN, On Broadway, Luna Lounge, SIN, Onyx Room, Kadans, Decos, Red Circle, Keating -1 Lounge, Montage, Static Lounge and most recently played @ the 3rd Annual SF LOVEFEST on the Eden Recordings, Jet Set Music, Green Addict & UPG Float that brought in well over 65,000. The love of music goes farther than representation of self, as KOPCHO is a philanthropic DJ playing several non-profit events thruout his DJ Career.
